Common questions
What families usually ask first.
How long is recovery after bypass surgery?
Most patients are out of intensive care within a day or two
and home inside a week. Light activity resumes in two to three weeks, and
most people are back to normal routines by six to eight weeks. Your own
timeline depends on your heart function and general health — this is
discussed specifically before surgery.
What should I bring to the first consultation?
Bring your angiography CD or images, echocardiogram report,
recent blood tests, and a list of current medicines. If you have reports
from another hospital, bring those too — second opinions are welcome.
Am I too high-risk for surgery?
Not necessarily. Poor pump function, diabetes, kidney disease,
advanced age, and previous cardiac surgery all raise risk but do not
automatically rule out surgery. High-risk cases are a substantial part of
this practice. The honest answer requires reviewing your investigations.
